I am installing HtoA for the first time with Houdini FX 17.0.352 and HtoA 3.2.0. The Arnold ROP and obj menu (Arnold Procedural, Arnold Volume, etc.) are there, but none of the SHOP nodes, such as the Standard Shader, are available. I am also unable to start a render in the Render View, it spends some time on "Generating Scene" and then shows "Error: Failed to save output to file." When I try to create a light from the shelf menu, I get the following output:
Traceback (most recent call last): File "arnold_skydome_light", line 7, in <module> File "C:/PROGRA~1/SIDEEF~1/HOUDIN~1.352/houdini/python2.7libs\objecttoolutils.py", line 535, in genericCameraLightTool camlight = genericTool(scriptargs, nodetypename, nodename, clicktoplace) File "C:/PROGRA~1/SIDEEF~1/HOUDIN~1.352/houdini/python2.7libs\toolutils.py", line 1383, in new_func return function(*args, **kwargs) File "C:/PROGRA~1/SIDEEF~1/HOUDIN~1.352/houdini/python2.7libs\objecttoolutils.py", line 494, in genericTool exact_node_type = exact_node_type) File "C:/PROGRA~1/SIDEEF~1/HOUDIN~1.352/houdini/python2.7libs\objecttoolutils.py", line 428, in genericObjNodeGeneratorTool exact_node_type ) File "C:/PROGRA~1/SIDEEF~1/HOUDIN~1.352/houdini/python2.7libs\objecttoolutils.py", line 366, in createObjNode exact_type_name = exact_node_type) File "C:/PROGRA~1/SIDEEF~1/HOUDIN~1.352/houdini/python2.7libs\houpythonportion\ui.py", line 706, in decorator return func(*args, **kwargs) File "C:/PROGRA~1/SIDEEF~1/HOUDIN~1.352/houdini/python2.7libs\hou.py", line 8319, in createNode return _hou.Node_createNode(*args, **kwargs) MatchDefinitionError: Failed to match node type definition. On the console, I see the following Arnold-related message:

I have tried the installation manually and automatically with the same results. Any help would be appreciated.

Can you post your houdini.env, and the details from Help > About Houdini > Show Details ?
I've uploaded both here: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/1nm82tl22d7cxh4/AAAUnUjH8fahwVXQv6snrWhLa?dl=0
Thanks, I don't see anything wrong in those files.
What's logged in the Output Window when you start Houdini and it loads HtoA?
For the Shop nodes, you don't see Arnold > Arnold Shader Network at the top level?
You have to go into that vopnet to add things like Standard Surface
See above for the logs from HtoA loading, it's mostly just info on our RLM licensing. I don't have Arnold>Arnold Shader Network at the top level, and in a vopnet I only see Mantra, Renderman, Operators, and Utility.
Unfortunately I'm still waiting for a h17 license, so I can test only in h16.5, where I didn't have any problems.
If you get me a Process Monitor log, I'll review for problems.
- DownloadProcessMonitor and extract it to a folder
https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/processmonitor.aspx
- Start ProcessMonitor and start capturing events (CTRL+E or the magnifying glass icon)
- Start Houdini and create a light
- Go back to ProcessMonitor and stop capturing events
- Save the ProcessMonitor log to a .PML file
- Zip up the log and send it
Alright, here we are: https://www.dropbox.com/s/1labiaxgz4o708e/Logfile.zip?dl=0
Thank you for your help!
C:\solidangle\mtoadeploy\2018\bin is in the PATH
I would remove that, because sooner or later that will be a problem (if it isn't already).
At startup, you should see this in the console:
Looks like we're in business! I had done that to make getting to Kick a little easier. I'm amazed you could diagnose that from a 200mb system dump. Loads of thanks again, I'm off to start some renders.
Remove C:\solidangle\mtoadeploy\2018\bin from PATH
Having other Arnolds in PATH always causes problems when you use different apps (eg Houdini and Maya)
I hope it will help somebody with the same issue.

Hi, I can't find any solution for this, I got this error when creating an Arnold object...
Any idea ?
(I already tried to load Arnold from JSON instead of .ENV... And the problem still the same)
