Does Arnold support RENDER SELECTED (object) with INTERSECTION?

After I tried to render just the one SELECTED object in the viewport, I expected to see only the VISIBLE parts of the objects rendered, which means Arnold must count on intersection with other objects around (just like in V-Ray render, with Render Selected or Render by Object ID), but ARNOLD will always render the full object, like is nothing else in the scene. Instead to render a whole picture again, I need sometimes to change and re-render just the one small part and to have it like an layer) ... but now is not possible, except to remove with eraser parts of the image I don't want to see in render SELECTED layer...? You should fix this, thank you.

Hi Mads,

yes, something like that.

I can that from mental ray, is really helpful.

Can you explain us how you do that?

above is a max script run it, after selected items.
remember to reverse it after done if you need to continue, after render is send to rendering.

You can use the Arnold operator canvas to make a filter and replace shaders based on criterias as well, I am not sure about selection, but you can be clever and go around that in some way by tagging a selected portion of items with a controller in terms of a string injection in the name.

Hi Mads,

thank you for your response.

When you write that, it all seems so easy. But Arnold Operator is absolutely new for me. First of all, I have to learn all this options. Maybe I'll find the right solution.

We are 12 designers and architects in my team, and they're not (not all) good with advanced options.

A one push of a button like by other renderers would be very helpful.

Thank you

Alex

It's almost 2024, is there a solution for this now?
I don't understand how you can work with Arnlod without this function. That's essential in post-production!!!
