How to set up standard surface sss to render bump maps?

Arnold fails to render bump maps or normals when sss feature of standard surface material is ramped up...

I don't have this issue. Can you supply some images or a scene file?

Thanks for the response. Can it also render if the sss is raised to 1.0

It is hardly visible at 1. If I lower it to 0.95 it is visible.

ok. Which would you recommend?. Bump 2d or normal map?...

Thank you..

Put a bump map inside a displacement shader. Activate "use autobump sss" in your render settings and autobump in displacement attributes (Arnold Tag in C4D). It seems the only way to render proper sss with bump maps.

you don't need to subdivide your mesh to reach this effect...
