MtoA AOV Light Group long name - or get/setAttr command

Hi there,

I'd like to add the AOV light group names to all my light's names to make them easier to spot/search in the outliner.

I.e: pointLightShape1 becomes pointLightShape1_key if the AOV Light Group is 'key'

I have searched all over for the getAttr for extracting the AOV light group, or even its long name but haven't found it. Also the script editor returns nothing when I change the name of the AOV Light Group in the attribute editor.

Does anyone know how to do this?

I get this in the script history:

setAttr -type "string" aiAreaLightShape1.aiAov "area";

Hey Stephen, thanks for this - that works...
I understood we'd tried that and it wasn't working, infact I was sure I'd seen it fail but don't have that instance of Maya open to look through the history now.
