ZDepth AOV

Hi,

I am trying to add a depth AOV - to little success!

The Z pass just appears as white in the render view. Does anybody have any ideas why this would be the case? I also tried ramping down the exposure, but there is still nothing there!

I would expect it to work as default, without having to go in to change any fancy or detailed parameters.

Thanks,

Paul

The Z values are non-normalized, so they are not values between 0 and 1

To use the Z, you need to normalize the values. For example, divide by the far clipping plane. Or do something like adjust the exposure. See this thread on the Autodesk maya rendering forum

Thank you Lee. I got something working by playing around with the clipping planes.

Would you have a chance to check out my other post regarding refraction/alpha channel?

Thanks so much

Ignore my last query Lee - turning on Transmit AOVs did the trick. Sorry for the overlapping thread.
