Is 3DS environment map missing from arnold properties LightGroup list?

Hi!

I noticed that the "under-the-hood" light created using the 3ds max background (adding an env map or simply turning BG color to a non-black one) is not listed under the "Light Group" tab when applying the "Arnold properties" modifier to an object.

I ask this because I want to create a matte/shadow catcher plane that includes ONLY the soft 3ds environment shadow .... and not all the other lights in the scene.

Is there a way or have I to workaround it using the arnold skydome light instead the standard 3dsmax enviroment?

Thank you

I'm using Skydome light instead of Environment map for better control of light properties. And I have no problem with it.

Yes, use a real skydome. Another case the light inclusion list will not help is when importing .ass procedurals containing lights.

I'm having the same issue: When using Arnold, I need to occasionally exclude an object from a light group. I am using the Arnold Properties modifier. Unfortunately, when I try to use this method, it automatically excludes all environmental lighting as well. In this case I am using HDRI to light the scene with local spotlights. So, my result is that the one selected object with the Arnold properties modifier either has all the lights or no lights and nothing in between.

Is there a way to make sure the object is still lit by environmental lighting while excluding added lights or is this a bug with Arnold? Why would they also exclude environmental lighting?

Any suggestions for a work-around? I cannot change to a sky-dome at this point because I am 300 illustrations into the project.
Thanks!
