Using user data string to load texture files

Hello.

We assigned string attributes to the primitives that store the texture path and filename. Then we connect a user string data with the attribute name and connect it to the filename port of the texture file. It should work but it's not..

Any ideas?

Thanks!

You're trying with <attr:texture_name> in the filepath?

Humm, I was using the user data node, I'll try with that expression.

Thanks!

That worked as a charm, thank you!

I wonder why the user data node didn't work. It works for every other data type but not on strings, maybe I'm missing something...

Cheers

afair, strings aren't resolved during shader evaluation

Please accept the answer (from Nic) if it helped
