Gobo Issue - How can I render an accurate gobo at a large scale?

I'm trying to create a gobo so I can have some pooled light simulating a cloudy day, but when I scale the card up to an appropriate size in my scene, the gobo pattern gets more and more blurred/destroyed (See images). I'm testing the gobo with a checkerboard texture to make sure it works perfectly before replacing it with an image, does anybody know how I can resolve this issue so the checkerboard pattern casts clearly at any scale?

- See the scale difference of the card in the attached images.

- My directional light has no soft shadowing. "Angle" is set to 0 under the Arnold tab.

- I've tested with spot and area lights with the same result.

- Tried mapping the texture onto the light, but that didn't work as well.

Thank you!

spot lights support a gobo light filter, but you're not using that?

With a directional light and a card (plane with checkerboard mapped to opacity) i get this:

That's with a 5000x5000 plane, or with a 1x1 plane scaled by 5000

Can you post a link to the scene?

I just learned about the gobo light filter in Arnold, so will experiment with that.

However, you seem to be able to get it to work with a directional light just fine even with the geo scaled to 5000, I'm not sure why I'm not getting the same result. Did you change any other settings that may affect this?

Thanks,

Sean.
