Maya Crashes right after adding Cryptomatte material AOV

I have Maya 2018.5 with MtoA 3.1.2, a simple sphere and a skydome light, renders fine, once I add the cryptomatte material AOV maya crashes. never happened with older version of maya/mtoa. Drivers are up to date.

Did anyone here have the same issue? anyone know how to fix this?

What older version? If it's old enough, maybe you had to a different non-compatible cryptomatte installed, and that old version is being loaded.

Actually, I'm assuming the crash happens at render time. Or does the crash happen when you add the AOV, with no rendering at all?

In either case, you should post an Arnold log so we can see what is being loaded.

Hi, Thanks for the reply

I tried with Maya 2018.3 and MtoA 3.0.1 which comes with cryptomatte and was fine. (only happens to machines with upgraded Maya/MtoA)

Yes the crash happens the moment I add the AOV to the active list which is unexpected. Sometimes a few seconds later or when I hit render.

Here is a log:arnold1log.txt

I think you might be right about conflicting cryptomattes, (3.1 comes with it by default not 3.0)

Have to do some further investigations. will update soon.

You were absolutely right, I removed the older Crypto path from the env var and it works just fine, Thanks!
