Correct motion blur settings (render settings & camera)

Hi guys, I know there are a lot of threads about it, and I've read thoroughly all the documentation and tutorials, but I still find some indications are contradictory / not clear.

Let's say I want to render a scene with no motion blur in the beauty, but I want to either use the built-in motionvector AOV or create a custom one to use later in comp.

The scene is set to 25fps and I want a 180ยบ shutter centered on frame.

By default, when using center on frame (render settings) the values are -0.250 (start) and 0.250 (end). Do I need to change them to 0.500 and 0.500 as the custom motionvector tutorial says?

As it is for the camera settings, do I need to change them as well? Or are the render settings enough (like a global setting)?

I struggle to find the right config since the custom AOV tutorial says nothing about changing the camera value (only motionblur settings), and the built-in AOV tutorial says you should only alter the camera values. Just want to be sure I have the necessary tweaks done, nothing more, nothing less.

Thanks!

Set the instantaneous shutter on the camera. Leave the default settings in the Render Settings > Motion Blur

Hi @Stephen! Thank you for your answer.

Doing what you said works just fine with the built-in motionvector AOV, but in the case of the custom AOV, setting the shutter to 'End on frame' and the camera start/end to 1 renders no vector at all.

I will be using 'Start on frame' or 'Center on frame' most likely, so that's fine, just wanted to point it out in case it is a bug.

Cheers!
