Arnold Aces color space work flow

Hello, I came across this documentation

https://cgrenderdna.blogspot.com/2018/06/how-to-use-acescg-in-arnold-for-maya.html#!/2018/06/how-to-...

It's sets up the correct way to use aces color spaces. I applied it to my scene and I'm unsure about sRGB textures. In the example the hdr that should be raw but what about the non-linear texture (gamma 2.2). I used the "Utility sRGB Texture" color space for 2.2 textures but they end up darker than the linear images. Is it getting color corrected twice because of the .tx files? What should 2.2 gamma sRGB images be set as in aces color space? And how do I keep .tx linear?

.tx files should be converted to linear, are you using the tx files in Maya or the original files?

If you are using the original files set them to "Utility sRGB Texture" they will be converted to ACEScg .tx files before rendering

@Ashley Handscomb Retallack Hey, I think that I've read everywhere that I'm suppose to use "Utility sRGB Texture" but it ends up darker than the Utility linear sRGB images. As far as I know the linear images (stuff like .exr, .hdr. alpha maps, 16 bit and 32 bit images). are supposed to be darker than the sRGB images that are 2.2 gamma. Gamma 1 should but lighter than gamma 2.2 images correct? So in my scene I have a sky dome with a hdr that's linear set to Utility linear sRGB color space. And in this image (see example) I have a texture that's Utility sRGB Texture that makes my png texture (2.2) darker than a Linear image. If Utility sRGB Texture is correct, than what is the correct way to load a linear image?

A Linear image should be set to Utility - Linear - sRGB, or better still convert to ACEScg and set to RAW in Maya.

How are you making your sRGB textures? What viewing colorspace are you using?

Make sure you are viewing in sRGB (ACES)

@Ashley Handscomb Retallack I'm using sRGB (ACES) as viewing color space. I'm making my sRGB textures with substance painter. Do I need to convert my sRGB textures?

Hi Edward!
If texture in srgb you need to convert them to ACEScg for working in ACES

Utility - Linear - sRGB, if you texture in linear space 32bit(exr, tiff, hdr)
or

Utility - sRGB - Texture, if you use 8bit -16bit textures
or

Utility - Rec709 - Camera, if you use 8bit -16bit textures, this load you texture normaly, not darker, but this is not correct, and using only for light map in 8 or 16 bit.

Textures become darker should be, this is normal, as you get more contrast, and you can set higher values in light sources. Look video links in blog for more information.
