weird reflection like problem with normal map

I want to add a normal map to add a slight bump to some cloth. I am using sheen as well. However, when I add the normal map, it looks like there is some weird reflection on my object.

This is what it looks like now, with the bump (sorry for the dark image)

This is what it looks without the bump map. the weird things seen above should not be there. The image file is .tif, if that could cause the problem. The bump2d node is on tangent space normals. I don't know what what could be wrong. Anyone got any suggestions?
