Hey,
I noticed that my Maya Viewport 2.0 is getting very slow when I have the Arnold Renderview open. As soon as I start rendering, It gets slow (which is normal). When I stop the rendering, moving in Viewport 2.0 is still very slow. When I close the Renderview and reopen it, movement is back to normal. The issue reoccurs once I hit render and stop again across all my scenes. The only workaround right know is to constantly close the Renderview. Currently I am working with Maya 2018 and fresh installed MtoA 3.1.2.1 and the Viewport 2.0 settings are default. I have a Ryzen 2700X and 32GB RAM in my computer.. so machinewise everything should work?!
Does anyone know why this is happening and how I can stop Maya from becoming slow?
Cheers,
Kyan

Did you try leaving more threads free?
Thank You @Stephen Blair for replying so fast! That tip helped a lot.
Is there a way of setting a thread number (e.g. -1) as a default when I start Maya? Its probably good to turn it to "auto" when I do a batch render but for LookDev purposes -1 is pretty good.
You can use Presets in Render Settings.
Then use Set Preferred Render Settings - User - <YourExportedSettings>
