Export all RenderLayers to .ass

Hey,

I was wondering if there was any easy way to export all Maya (2018) Render Layers to .ass?

I also checked the existing threads on that topic and it seems to me that it is only possible to export the currently active layer or the master layer? Our current workaround would be a script that changes the active layer, writes to .ass, changes the active layer, writes to .ass, changes ...and so on.. but that feels kinda hacky. Are we missing anything here?

Thanks for your help!

Caroline

Hi Caroline,
I have the same question. Did you stick with your hacky solution in the end?

The latest Deadline supports exporting multiple layers. With older versions of Deadline, you would need separate export jobs, one per render layer.

https://docs.thinkboxsoftware.com/products/deadline/10.1/1_User%20Manual/manual/app-maya.html#app-ma...

The following options are available for Arnold Export Jobs:

  • Render Layers (new in 10.1.1): Which render layers to submit. This drop-down is only enabled when there are render layers set up in the scene. Select from the following options:
    • Active Layer At Submission Time: Only the active layer at the time of submission will be exported to an Arnold stand-alone scene file (.ass file).

    • All Render Layers (Separate Jobs): A job will be submitted to export each render layer in the scene to an Arnold stand-alone scene file (.ass file).
