3DS Max Arnold VDB not showing

Hello,

like discribed VDBs are not showing in my Drawing. I just wanted to explore the Scene from:https://docs.arnoldrenderer.com/display/A5AF3DSUG/Rendering+a+Cloud

But if I open the Scene it only shows the Physical Sky but not the Cloud.

I even tryed to create a new Scene but if I open the VDB it asks for Grids, but there are no to select. Img from Tutorial (I have no options there):

My Scene Showcase:

Tryed other VDB Scenes aswell, all with the same result, does somebody know how to solve this?

(Sry for my bad English)

Greetings

Philipp

It looks like you haven't downloaded the vdb file link in the tutorial. Download it and open it in the volume.

@Lee Griggs Thanks for the Answer 🙂 I have the Files from Disney downloaded and even imported to a new File (I use 3DS 2019). Still nothing visible but like I sayed my Grid Window is completly empty, i think thast why it doesent work, but I cant fix it 😞 (all other VDBs I tested dont have Grids to choose from too)

Did you try the scene file from the tutorial?

Yes, I tried it first with the scene file and it didnt worked, becuse i forgot to downloade the Files from Disney, but even after its still not working. I think it has something to do with the VDB Grids, i couldnt select any Grids no matter wich vdb i tried (even tried the other Tutorials with vdb files, all are not showing)

I should show the Density grid enabled when it loads the VDB. Just click on OK and it should work.

You assigned a Standard Volume to it right?

Hi BÀRBARA MICO-VICENT, I never got it to work with 3Ds Max 2019 unfortunately, I suspect some bug, but if I remember correctly it had worked for me with the 2020+ version.

If you could try if it works and write an answer for all who have the same problem, I would appreciate it.

With kind regards,

Philipp

If the vdb really does have grids, and you know their names, you could type them into the Grids box of the Volume object
