Houdini (HtoA 2.2-3.2) support for opdef: and op: ?

Hello! I work for Framestore and am currently developing tools and HDA's surrounding Arnold for Houdini (htoa 2.2-3.2). I have a request to embed .tx's and textures into the HDA. I can get this to work with Mantra with the opdef:'path to embedded texture' or op:'path to image network'.

I was wondering if there is any planned support or any chance to have this functionality ported to HtoA? opdef and op are powerful functions in Houdini. I have seen a forum post from July of 2018 saying no such thing exists currently in the htoa code but I thought I would ask again. When I tried to I either got a "cannot check tx existence" error or a "null void error" if I specify the embedded .tx.

We've got an open enhancement ticket for op and opdef, but no immediate plans to implement it. I'll add your name and info to the ticket.

Hello, any update on this?

This is really useful for our lighting pipeline, opdef into HDA embedded textures works perfectly with mantra and redshift, but still not with arnold unfortunately.
