System error (-1073741819) when trying to use Arnold NOICE

Hi all,

I'm getting an error (-1073741819) when trying to use the Arnold denoiser NOICE. My machine is a brand spanking new build with windows 10 (latest build 1809; os build 17763.316). I got as far as "it has something to do with the windows file system" but I could use your help!

I happens both when I try to denoise locally and when I access our file server. See attached screenshot.

When I access noise.exe through CMD I get the following error.

3344-cmd-denoiser-fail.jpg

When I disable UAC and set the noice executable to run as administrator I get a different error: denoising failed (740)..it seems to be something related to windows 10... again.

any help or thoughts are highly appreciated :).

Can put that one exr in a different folder, like some place on your C drive where you know you have read/write access. And then try to denoise it?

Also:
-1073741819 = C0000005, which is an Access Violation exception.

That's a pretty generic error, so it could be anything.

Both server to local and local to local give me the same error code. I ran a sfc /scannow to check windows file system integrity but all is good.

Correct... that's what I was afraid of. So I'm pointing my finger at windows. this is a strange one...

Can you try to noice this file (which works for me) ?

If you still get an error, then can you get a Process Monitor log?

  • Download process monitor from https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/processmonitor.aspx
  • Extract the downloaded zip file and run Procmon.exe
  • Click File > Capture Events to disable logging.
  • Click Edit > Clear Display
  • Start capturing events
  • In C4D, click Denoise
  • After you get the error, go back to ProcessMonitor and stop capturing events
  • Save the log to a PML file, zip it up, and post it

Hi Stephen, thank you for the help. The link you send is password protected so I can't reach your file 😞

Your file worked for me... I'm baffled as to what it is now.

I'm doing something wrong with setting up my AOV's. In the denoiser I'm creating my EXR driver with my AOV's enabled... but I'm only getting a beauty pass with regular save and multi-pass save.

Message 12 of 13

It turns out that you need to set the output in the denoiser driver... And you need to DISABLE the save options in the arnold settings. Then put whatever in the render queue (otherwise it does not start) and off we go. Denoiser works now! Thanks @Stephen Blair
