Hey All,
Is there a way to do this yet in the current version of
Aronld? Would be nice if this could maybe be a feature added to the
aiUtility shader so its giving the same result as the Lighting option in
the debug drop down in the ARV!!?!?? Or a setting some where. It comes
in very handy and would love to have it straight out of Maya rather than doing it in comp?
Could this be achieved by LPE maybe? I tried doing it with an aiUtility shader set to lambert or even plastic, it gives me what i need but also destroys the "..diffuse_albedo.." AOV just turning into a flat color

The debug shading in the ARV uses the Utility shader, so you can use that as a custom AOV.
For the second question, how about using another customer AOV with C<RD>A ? That worked when I did a quick test.
Hey Stephen,
Thanks for this, this is actually what I need. Didn't cross my mind to just make a new [diffuse_albedo] and rename it.
Thanks for the quick responce!!
Attaching a utility shader in plastic or lambert mode to a custom aov returns flat empty frame .. in maya 2019 Arnold 3.2.1
is it this version or am I doing something wrong ... it seems super simple .. create custom aov and plug a utility shader into its shader port ... set the utility to Color mode and let’s say lambert ... and .. nothing !! Do the same with AO shader and it works .. do it with standard surface .. nothing again..
I think I am missing something! 🙂
