Cannot inspect ass file from HtoA?

Hey there, I just imported my .ass file(simple sphere with a standerd shader on it and basic fur with hair shader on it) from houdini in to maya. And find that I cant inspect the Arnold file. Is this a know problem?

What do you mean by "inspect" ? The File Contents is empty?

Does standin appear in a render? Is there a bounding box in the viewport? Can you change the viewport drawing mode? Are there any errors in the script history or the Arnold log?

I've used ASS files from Houdini, in Maya, with no problems.

I don't mean viewport display, I mean inspect Arnold file. Normally this brings up a list of assets inside a stand-in.

When I click the button, Nothing happens, like nothing. Even in the Script editor with echo on. Nothing happens. No error msg, nothing. It does render, and display and seems normal all except for "inspect arnold file". Is there something I'm missing here. Its all basic setups just a sphere and some fur and standard shaders unchaged...

It's the ####

Change that to an actual file, like "0013" and you should be able to inspect the file.

OMG, lol thats it. Okay then, so how do you edit it for the whole Sequence then.

An operator or override would apply on each ass file of the sequence. So if the same shape, shader, or light is in each ass file, you are ok.

cool thanks 😄

I'll open a ticket: Mtoa should be able to use the value in the Frame box to figure out what ass file to open
