About Perpetual License and Arnold updates

Hi. I have Arnold 2018 Perpetual license(Autodesk license key). And this license does not currently maintain maintenance plans. What is the latest Arnold Core version (or MtoA version) that I can use? If I am able to use the current Arnold version now, how long can I use the license update? I can not find any policy or content related to this. Thank you.

You can use any Arnold version currently available (except for Arnold 4, which uses RLM).

How long? Until a new Arnold starts using a new license token (eg 2019 or whatever). It'll happen eventually. After that, you'll be able to use the older Arnold versions only.

@Stephen Blair I heard that if you let your maintenance plan expire that you can't renew and have to switch to subscription license (or not get updates). Is that true? Also the .lic file says the expiration date and maintenance plans last a year.

If you let your maintenance expire, then you can either

  • continue using the last version of Arnold that was covered by your maintenance
  • switch to subscription (if you want to use a newer Arnold)

An RLM license file will have the maintenance expiration date as the version number.
