Problem with rendering glass in arnold for maya 2018

Hello guys this is my first post here.

Im having a major problem when trying to render glass in Arnold for maya. Im using the 2018 version.
The problem is, when i render the glass material, the glass that is horizontal to the background, i mean just straight infront of the background, renders fine. But the glass that are sideways on both sides are NOT becoming transparent, aka cant see the background through them. See the picture for a better understanding of what i mean.

Imgur

They seem to cast shadows or reflections or whatever i dunno (even if i turn specular all the way down) and doesnt show the background image at all.
Can someone please help.
I just maxed the transmission and turned opaque off to create the glass shader. I experimented with turning off diffuse weight, turning diffuse to black, turning of specularity but nothing seems to work.

I know it sounds weird, but you might need to increase the diffuse samples too. I had the same problem with a car headlamps lens glass and I fixed it by raising both the Diffuse and Specular samples. Also I raised the overall Transparency depth.

I can't quite tell what is going on in that render. Do you have a wireframe? There is a glass material preset in the attribute editor for Standard Surface. It is also available here. You could try increasing the Transmission and Transparency Depths to see if that helps. Are the normals facing in the correct direction?

Also, I would add, have you got real thickness in place there? Or are your geometries made of just one side (tinfoil)?

Extruding them to make them actually thick would help.

Thanks guys i fixed it. Since it was just a polyplane arnold wasnt being able to render the back side properly. I had to turn on "Thin Walled" in the geometry section and now it works fine.
