Arnold gpu and Graphic card

Hello, I am currently changing my material which is old. I work with Maya, Arnold, VRay, Zbrush, Mari, Substance painter.

I do not play video games.

For the processor I bought an i9-9980XE Extreme Edition but for the GPU I hesitate.

From the video of Arnold GPU that I saw on the internet, it would be the right choice?

1 - a quadro rtx 5000

2 - two quadro rtx 4000 with the dvlink nidia

3 - two 2080 rtx with the dvlink nidia

I have the budget, but it's hard to decide.

Some advice would be the goods come

Thank you

How many PCIe x16 slots do you have, and what's the spacing between them?

If you get two 2080 Ti cards with NVLink, that's a good 22GB of VRAM and an OctaneBench score of around 650. Just for comparison, a GTX 1070 scores 109 on OctaneBench (GPU benchmark). And a GTX 1070 renders about as fast as a Xeon 16 Core CPU.

That's what I'm slowly building up to for my PC workstation. The Quadros are the same chips as the GeForce cards, just with more VRAM. Luckily, Arnold has a built-in Texture Size Limiter in GPU mode where you can specify "I want 2048 resolution" or "I want 4096 resolution". I shaved 4 GB off a scene just by dropping to 2048 resolution textures, and it looks almost as good.

I would go with 2x RTX 2080Ti with nvlink they will have more ram than one RTX5000 and I think they will be faster. Just check if you have enough PCIe slots and strong enough PSU.

A question guys. So if I connect two nvidia with nvlink thats count all the vram so 11gb per Video card are 22gb? Right? I can consider to buy two. Thanks

I recommend the 2x2080 TI, the performance scales about ~1.7x (without NVLink) when adding the second GPU and 10-15% extra performance using Ubuntu rather than Windows.

A Quadro RTX 4000 has about half the RT cores and only 8 GB memory so I wouldn't even think about it, I imagine that only one 2080 TI would be faster than 2x Quadro RTX 4000.
