Hypershade icons contain large 'A'

Finally managed to download Maya 2017 educational version and Arnold 2018 and am now able to batch render without a watermark. Yay. The hypershade is looking a little unusual however. The icons have a large 'A' for Arnold and don't show the material, as per the attached image. Is this normal or is there a problem?

Thank so much!

Hello,

yes the render swatches have been disabled by default as they can cause several issues, slowdowns, etc... if you want to enable them, you need to go in the render settings, tab "System", and activate "Enable Swatch Render". This will bring back the little shaded spheres.

@Stanislav Onishenko
Same situation here: Swatch Rendering in Settings -> Display is ON, Swatch Rendering in Rendersettings -> System is ON, Hypershade PAUSE Swatchupdates are ON

Maya 2020 with latest Arnold Version 4.2.4
Very annoying to navigate the hypershade when everything looks the same.

This is a known issue: swatches do not render even when Swatch Render is enabled.

This is still an issue? Seems to be.
