Threads with GPU

I only have one gpu in my workstation and when rendering with it with arnold my general user UI performance becomes quite laggy.

The threads option in the GPU settings menu doesn't seem to have any impact on the load on my gpu. It will also go up to 100%.

Is there a way to reduce the max load of the renderer on the gpu to allow some smoother UI performance?

Vray GPU seems to leave around 10% of spare load and there is no lag with UI performance when using it.

Thanks,

Richard

Sorry but at the moment I don't believe there is anything you can do short of adding another GPU to handle just the UI. This is something we'd like to improve in the future.

@Richard Levene

Are you using a GTX 1060? I had pretty slow performance on that card, but on an RTX 2080Ti on Windows 10 with the nVidia Studio drivers, rendering has no impact on our UI.

Hi John, No I was using an old M4000 in my machine on windows 7. Good to know about that card, os and drivers though. Thanks.
