I want to recreate this effect - Alpha channel with different specular values.

I want to recreate the effect on the tunic. I've no idea how to do it.

The texture is fed to the roughness component, that is connected to the amount of specular you want. You can then adjust both map and not-map independantly with a small weight.

Try make a plane, and pipe some black and white image to the roughness slot and watch the plane from a glancing angle, you will see the "gloss" will differ depending on wether an area is controled by the textures whites or blacks.

You can further use the texture to add some additional blacks by controling, lets say color, or other features, so that while both giving a more chrome reflection it also has a slightly darker diffuse component, or simply a different color, etc.

You can also add a Range or Color Correct in-between the map and Spec Roughness to give more control over the effect.
