How to get C4DtoA to work with Speedtree

Hi,

I can't seem to figure out how to make Speedtree 8, Cinema 4D R19, and Arnold 5 work together to render out a tree.

When I start up the Arnold IPR, the leaves don't look correct. How do I link up all the materials (Normal, Alpha, Color, Bump, ect) in the Arnold Shader Network so it renders correctly.

Any screen shot of a working Arnold Shader Network in Cinema 4D (nodes and all) would work fine as an explanation.

Also, I tried an alternative route with a .ass file I created in Maya and I get this error:

C4DtoA | 00:00:00 1898MB ERROR| [ass] line 43: node "color_manager_syncolor" is not installed

Any way around this?

Thanks so much!

Don't export the color manager node. You don't need it, unless you're using custom color transforms.

Hi Stephen,

Thanks for the reply.

Do you mean: don't export the "Color Manager Node" from Maya when creating the .ass file???

Thanks again.

That's right. You don't need to export it, and that will avoid the error.

If you have a working shader tree in Maya, then it shouldn't be hard to do the same thing in CINEMA 4D. I don't know anything about SpeedTree though, I don't have it here.

Hi Stephen,

Unchecking the "Color Manager" in Maya before exporting the .ass file did the trick.

Thanks again!
