shadow groups???

Hi,

Are shadow groups supported at all in Maya? Normally the user can exclude an object from casting a shadow from a light using the menu command: Rendering > Lighting/Shading > Break Shadow Links. This does not appear to be working in MtoA 3.2. I don't see any Shadow Group functionality in the Attribute Editor for the light, either.

I know that the Arnold core supports this, because it has been implemented in 3ds Max.

Shadow exclusion is a key feature required to fully take advantage of the medium of 3D rendering. Please support the Maya Break Shadow Links command or add a Shadow Group section to the Arnold attributes of the light shape. The former option is more desirable for consistency, since Light Linking through the Rendering menu set is already supported.

Thank you,

Aaron

Hello,

by default shadow groups follow light links, as this is the most frequent use and avoids manual errors between the two groups. But you can control this in the Render Settings, in Tab "Lights", and switch to relying on Maya Shadow Links as explained here:
