I tried to use a animated texture. I am pointing to the correct frame via $F. The expression gets evaluated correctly but the texture is missing. when I "hardcode" the framenumber into the string the texture will be found.
Hi Tim. What do you mean by "I hardcore the frame number". Can you please post the expressions you used that worked.
please provide a method to use an animated texture with an 'image' node.
No matter what format, It doesn't read animated texture.

$F is the method, users do it all the time
had a very similar problem to this, Arnold/ Houdini will bug in the IPR render and tell you that you cant use animated expressions inside a VEX network. Promoting the input didn't solve the issue.
What worked for me was rendering to disk. It just rendered to disk completely fine.
