I've been working with Arnold for Maya for quite sometime now. In latest updates (since May releases) I've been getting black artifacts in random geometry when using the aiAmbientOcclusion node in a custom AOV. Ive checked the camera for clippling planes being too small/big, geometry being on top of eachother. It is weird because sometimes changing to different aiStandardSurface shader fixes the problem, but sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes exporting the geometry in OBJ format and importing it back fixes it, but sometimes it doesn't. The problem is extensive, it is not only in some geometries; it is in most of it. The artifacts sometimes appear in a scene that only has some spheres. Sometimes the original geometry doesn't get artifacts but the duplicated geometry does, but sometimes it is the other way around. By the way I also erased the history, and no changes. I really appreciate some guidance.

Is Primary Visibility enabled for the offending geometry?

Primary Visibility is enabled for every object, and I want to thank you, because you made me check the Render Stats tab which lead me to the solution. For some reason in the Render Stats tab every object has enabled Double Sided by default, which was the problem, by disabling Double Sided the issue was fixed. Thank you @Lee Griggs.4182-solution-blackfaces.jpg
