Shadow Matte for multiple objects.., not just ground. How?

Hi

So i´m experimenting with shadow passes and i can not get them right. For test i want only the shadows from a long box into some boxes.

Here is the original version and how the final render should look…

I add a Shadow-matte shader to the boxes and the ground plane and then uncheck in the boxes “Self Shadows” and “cast shadows” with the purpose of getting just the shadows from the box in the air.

And then just comp the shadow pass.

As you can see the shadows are way to black in the boxes that are on the ground, how can i get a good shadow pass of just the shadows of the blue box?..

I made this test first all in CG to then apply it in a CG/Live action scene integrating a CG object into an scene where the shadow of the CG object is visible not just on the ground of the live action BG but also on some objects of that live action BG.

Thanks

The lightness in those shadows is coming from the indirect diffuse of the original surface shader.

for the full look you need to combine indirect diffuse with direct diffuse and use the shadow matte AOV to get a mask of the shadows

Thanks Ashley, i´m going to do that. It seems i´m going to have to render the scene twice to have the indirect light diffuse bouncing from the flour...
