Why the png Opacity Map is black?

I am trying 3ds max 2020 and arnold 5.3 , I have two questions:

1、Why the png Opacity Map is black?

2、The map can not be shown in renderer window, what should I do?

Try look at my reply here using the layer node.
You work EXACTLY like photoshop, including the stacking from bottom up.
No need to a multi sub material.

You could also "Shift+Drag" your bitmap to create a copy of your diffuse map, set that copies RGB Output to "Alpha as Gray" and the Alpha Source to "Image Alpha"
