I know it's possible to have an animated texture show up as animating in the viewport for default c4d materials by selecting the material and going to Editor > Animate Preview. Arnold materials don't seem to have this functionality? - even for something as simple as an animated c4d noise piped to Arnold viewport in an Arnold material.

The viewport representation of Arnold materials is pretty crap at the moment, I'm planning to improve it. Probably it won't be too difficult to make the C4D Noise shader to respect the animation, I have to take a look.
Good to know! I've noticed how usually nothing, not even that standard surface node piped to Arnold viewport, shows up correctly when there are bitmaps piped into it. At best I can get a bitmap to go straight into the Arnold Viewport successfully but that's it. That plus a color correction node also fails, even if none of the params are edited and the bitmap is effectively just passing through. Also I've come across a simple noise (not animated) not even displaying correctly compared to what is shows in the IPR.
