We want to render Packed Alembic Primitives so that we can control the subdivision levels using "ar_subdiv_type" and "ar_subdiv_iterations" but then we lose the ability to use Pref.
Is there a way to subdivide primitives using those two primitive-attributes AND to be able to put things like Pref on the geometry? We basically want to control subdivisions on poly-soups or polygons on a per-primitive basis.
You can add Pref before you export you Alembic. In maya you can bake it onte vertex as vertex color, name it Pref and it works. In houdini it would be the same way, just bake Pref into the alembic. If you are building custom Pref in houdini, you can save it to separate alembic and load it back as Layer (abcLayers) to your original alembic
