Can't add render layer override for Arnold "matte" attribute on object

Maya does not allow me to drag and drop the "Matte" attribute from my geometry onto the collection in order to create the override in the render layer. I looked at this:

https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/maya-shading-lighting-and/render-override-arnold-attributes-matte/td-...

But the right-click menu does not give me any override options. Only "Create New Expression", "Set Key", "Set Driven Key", and "Lock Attribute". I've tried adding the actual shape node to the collection as well and no luck with that either.

This is pretty big. Any help will be appreciated.

(BTW, I'm using Maya 2018 and MtoA 3.3.0)

  • Right click the collection
  • Click Create Absolute Override
  • In the Type Attribute box, type aiMatte
  • Click Create
