About 1/5 of the time, clicking cancel during a scene ASS export of a multiple frame project will lead to the ASS Export window locking up and finishing the export as if you never clicked cancel.
To try and reproduce this, open a new scene, add a cube because why not, set the export range to custom - 72 frames (the default timeline range) so that its obvious when the export window locks up. Set your output path. Make sure you're exporting scene not procedural. Now click export then immediately click cancel when the export is on/past exporting frame 5. Clicking cancel too quickly - i.e. frame 0 - never seems to produce a problem. Keep clicking export and then cancel around frame 5 or past that and the window should lock up about 1/5 of the time but should still finish exporting all 72 frames (no idea if they are corrupted or not - probably not though).
You can probably imagine this becomes a bigger problem when you have a much larger project where each exported ass file is in the large MB sizes and you really want to cancel but it won't let you. Now you're potentially stuck waiting many minutes for the export to finish unless you force quit C4D, potentially losing unsaved data.
