Rendering with Zync from 3DS Max

Hi,

I recently signed up for Zync. I am using 3DS Max 2019 with Arnold 5.31

When I go to submit a job, an error log shows up saying "x texture map cannot be exported to .ass", pretty much all of 3ds max maps. As a result, my jobs don't render.

How can I fix this? Do I need to bake all of my textures? If so, how does that work with maps like falloff that change depending on the perspective?

Don't use any max legacy maps as a ground rule. There are a few you can use, but its better and simpler to just exchage the legacy nodes with an Arnold or OSL variant.
You can use the scene converter to convert things. I have a repository with some conversions maps possible already, but yes - anything is possible, its just not a single click job.

Thanks for the reply.

Will switch everything over.
Do I need to change bitmaps to something else? Or do those generally work?

That would be the Facing Ratio node.

Bitmap should work, however. Things to considder.

.tx files are very memory efficient and pre mipped. The legacy max bitmap node cannot load these, The arnold Image node will load them perfectly fine.
I have a script to automate that process here. Pick the Legacy_To_Arnold_image.ms and install it in the scene converter and run your scene through the converter process and all your legacy maps will automatically be swapped out.
( ideally you leave your bitmaps in and do a server convert of all files to .tx and tick the "use exsisting .tx" ) that will pick up the .tx file on disk.
