built in AOV N, P, Z

Hi, I have used with success, the Z pass in the lens blur/Photoshop,( yea) BUT, my latest render showed the Z pass as all white, I have not tried it in PS, this implies no depth ?, although there is, can someone please tell me what I did wrong? also, I can not find definition of N ( normal pass) and P ( position?) , and what they can be used for. Thank you

Z is not normalized, so it will appear all white

Thank you Stephen. BTW, can you please explain how I might use the P and N built in pass?
