I have a Ramp_Rgb assigned to the base color, but i can only see it in the material editor, but not in the viewport?
What am i missing?
Also, maybe you seek to work in the actual viewport and not Arnold active shade overlay.
In that case, not supported, and in general aim to use OSL for viewport HQ as that is specificially tailored for high performance play back. Draw back, we dont have all nodes, and we certaintly do not have the way too awesome Arnold Ramp UI. so, trade offs, benefits. But viewport playback speed with OSL is top shelf even realy gnarly code with tons of for loops and Arnold eats these things for breakfast, so you get super workflow speed this way ( avoiding baking things in and so on )
Hi Mads
Thanks for the answer, but it seems i am several steps behind you.
I dont have the possibility to choose "ActiveShade - using Arnold" for my viewport, i need to get there first?ramp-rgb-02.jpg
Download the newest max version and update Arnold as well so you are on the newest builds.
2018 does not have any of these initiatives, I missed to check your builds, the first image you send over shows it, so my mistake.
I'd also recommend moving to 2020.2 for many many reasons, but especially all the work done around shading and viewport quality, being tied up very nicely with Arnold.
