Have you installed bifrost? https://area.autodesk.com/bifrost/downloads/

What @Ashley Handscomb Retallack said.

You should see this in an Arnold log:

I know it is installed, I see the bifrost_procedural_0_2.dll in C:\solidangle\mtoadeploy\2018\extensions\bifrost\1.5.0, but the only thing I get from the output window is:

That's the old Bifrost

Where's Bifrost 2.0.1.1 or later?

C:/Program Files/Autodesk/Bifrost/Maya2019/2.0.1.1/bifrost/arnold-5.3.0.0/arnold_bifrost.dll

I Thought Bifrost got updated along with Maya, just installed 2.0.2.0 and now it's working.

Thank you!

I was having a similar issue now but I was getting :

// Error: [mtoa.translator] bifrostTranslator: Arnold node type bifrost_points does not exist. //

so still a translator issue...

I had maya 2018.5 installed with the arnold update ( MtoA 3.3.0) and was getting the error... so I thought it might be Bifrost, so I installed the update to bifrost and that just broke my scene all together.

so I uninstalled arnold, bifrost and maya and then reinstalled only maya 2018.5 and as soon as I opened my scene and hit render, everything seemed fine.
