In the team render preferences settings, try to turn off "Clients Get Assets on Demand".

Or Peer-To-Peer Asset Distribution or Fetch Assets, I don't remember which exactly is it.

If the VDBs are on a shared drive or already exist on the client machines you can setup the folder on each client under Preferences > Files > Texture Paths:

Alternatively you can use environment variable in the Arnold Volume path, such as

${PATH_TO_FOLDER}myvolume.vdb

and setup the env var on all clients.

@ tks Carlos Dordelly , but Arnold help file recomends to keep checked the Clients Get Assets on Demand

https://support.solidangle.com/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=23265720 .

@ Peter Horvath tks, the vdb files are in a shared drive, whil try this solution right away !!!

@ Peter Horvath, tks again for your solution. I think im doing something wrong. I have this config.

But my render doesn't start. Keeping lunching the project but with no avail.

Message 6 of 16

Yeah, that's not right.

Just setup the Texture Path as in the screenshot of my previous answer. Use the folder where the vdbs are located, I assume it's /Volumes/BI/GRAFISMO/04 WORKAREA/PINTO/CENA 130/CIMA_VDB_RES

And then just use the filename in the Arnold Volume: EXPLO_CIMA_RES_V2_####.vdb

That should work.

you mean like this Peter??

Message 8 of 16

And in the Arnold Volume

Message 9 of 16

Yep, that should do it. Just define the Texture Path on all clients. Does it work?

Message 10 of 16

Unfortunately it gets stuck when preparing

Message 11 of 16

Odd. But that Preparing stage is done by C4D, before the scene is translated to Arnold. Does it happen only because you updated the Texture Paths?

Message 12 of 16

When i let the clients creat copys of the files (text and vdb) this error dosnt hapen. When y chek this option.

508-captura-de-ecra-2017-11-27-as-161036.pngI get the infinit prepering

Message 13 of 16

I'm not able to reproduce this. Maybe it's something to do with the mapped drive?

While I'm testing I noticed this setup does not work in R19 and C4D downloads the assets even if they are accessible via the Texture Path. In R18 it works perfectly, so MAXON might have changed something. I have to ask them.

Message 14 of 16

Peter, i cant tank you enough for your help you have been great. Unfortunately, i cant test with r18 perhaps as changed the order of the steps calling when launching the team render? At Maxon they didnt help me. As soon at they saw "arnold" in my question they dispatched me XD. Thank you again for your help Peter, anything new, please take the time to share.

Message 15 of 16

Just a quick update, I talk with the MAXON guys to see if it's a bug in R19 or not. I might have a workaround for vdb files, which I can send you next week, so you can test it.

Message 16 of 16

Hey, please check this build if it solves the issue:

https://safeshare.solidangle.com/index.php/s/MIGAl6aURbvT090

Password: arnold

It's a workaround for VDBs. I'm not sure this will be the final fix, I just wonder if it works in your case or not.
