How do you people go around rendering a large amount of plants?
I have a cornfield it's just one object but it's scattered with FP there's hundreds of it, and it has opacity maps on leaves. I did remove the filtering on the opacity bitmap and lowered the blur to minimum BUT it still takes painfully long to render.
Arnold's' AA settings are pretty low not higher than 244 on most passes and much lower than that on some.
Is a real geometry the only solution or there is some kind of a trick to do it?
Just use "thin wall" and up the SSS to get translucency, dont use opacity, you ONLY use opacity to control the Alpha cutout border so a leaf becomes a leaf and not a rectangle with a leaf on.
I have rendered a ton of vegetation, no problems, maybe your light kit is not ideal.
Send over a plant, I have FP too, so I can render it np.
Mads Drøschler> I don't use translucency in my scene, just cutouts
Lee Griggs> sorry I meant min/max values for diff and other ones. My lowered new settings helped a little but just tiny bit.
