Hi all,
Long time no see. Finally got a gpu for rendering and what an unpleasent surprise. Tons of fireflies. Can someone help? On simplest scene i got them, sphere with specular and any light. Thank you.
What's the AA? You've got to increase it on GPU.
And use adaptive.

Hello. Yes, but render takes forever with those options. It is slow as cpu then. I don't get it. I thought that Arnold gpu got out from beta.
Something like this takes a few seconds to clear on the GPU, if you use Optix, your case is finished in less than 1 second.
It looks like you arnt using very high AA, sotra like stopping render because you use default 3 camera aa, which is not enough.
I rebuild your case and am able to remove noise within seconds in multiple ways, clamping indirects, increasing camera AA and as Stephen mentions, enabling adaptive sampling and low threshold with high max camera samples are all valid routes to go depending on what you need.

Hello, What is your render time? I inserted your preferences and my render time is 5:24 minutes for sphere and directional light. Is this normal? I have Rtx 2070 Super gpu.
With OptiX on, it takes 1/10 of a second to remove the specular blimps on a GTX1080TI.
Maybe 6-8 seconds to reach the quality on your image brute force.
2 seconds using clamping method.
Question, are you using an arnold point light?
Hello, No. It is Maya's native directional light. I have also Firepro W7100 for display. Maybe they interfer each other? My render with adaptive sampling enabled comes to 100% and it jams, and still calculating. Then it finishes after few minutes.
Remember to enable "Progressive"
In max the standard lights are not recomended at any scale, the Arnold lights are build with Arnold in mind. I dont know how maya deals with it, but I would recomend you to use Arnolds own lights and retry.
hmm.
Progressive greyed out, that sounds like something fundamental is wrong. Are you using the newest Arnold build available?
At what resolution are you testing in 10000x8000? then I think your times would be correct, but not in small tests window, there it should be instant, or close to instant.
Try enable OptiX, You do so, by adding the Denoised_RGBA AOV and switch to it in a realtime window.
I saw on Arvid Schneider Youtube channel that his Progressive rendering is also grayed out. I use Arnold 6 that came with Maya 2020. Resolution is cca 920x540. I was thinking that I can clean up render without Optix. I see that it is almost impossible.
It takes 10 seconds to render 920x540 this quality, without a denoiser on a GTX1080TI. In start of render there are millions of hot pixels, which disapears after 10 seconds.
Make sure you download and install the newest Arnold build, the version you have installed could be old.
There are a lot of work going around noise in more current builds so you may sit with a dated version, please state version of Arnold build.
Im not able to get your bad performance, but I also dont know how to fix it at your end.
Something is wrong in your end, the system works great.
Ok, thank you for your time. I will wait for Maya update. It should be fixed then. I will post results after. Cheers!
