CentOS Command line/non-GUI install KtoA 3.x

Is there a way to install the new KtoA installer introduced in 3.0.1.0 on the command line headlessly?

There wasn't anything obvious from:

KtoA-3.0.1.1-kat3.1-linux.run --help

I'm afraid not. There's no silent install.

We'll open a ticket and investigate how to do it with the Qt Install Framework

If you are totally unable to install with the GUI method (and the just copy the installed directory out to say, an NFS share, that should work fine), then let us know as we can still generate a tarball.

Thanks! I was able to extract manually at a workstation, it's just a shame the new version introduced a new manual process when installing

Note to self:

  • CLI install is still WIP by Qt themselves: https://bugreports.qt.io/browse/QTIFW-1555
  • Qt will probably release CLI support as part of Qt Install Framework version 4...
  • ...But I see sneaky references to Qt 6. If Qt does wait and release Qt Install Framework version 4 with Qt 6, it might be a while until full headless install is possible
  • Let's hope they can release Qt Install Framework version 4 before Qt 6
  • The installers extract a 7 zipped version of KtoA, search for 7z here https://doc.qt.io/qtinstallerframework/ifw-tools.html. There might be a possibility to inspect the installer binary to extract the 7zip from it, assuming the archive is located in a contiguous block of binary data. But that is some hardcore file surgery.

Looking to do the same with 3.2.2.2 Any updates for this to work and if so any documentation as to how?

Nope as of 3.2.2.2

Still extracting via the GUI manually
