Arnold/ALRemapColor

I'm following a tutorial that is using the the ALRemapColor node and my version of Maya 2020 no longer supports the ALshaders. I found the RemapColor node in Arnold, but the node doesn't contain the same settings of the ALRemapcolor node. Can you help me use Arnold nodes to do the same thing that the ALRemapColor node does?

Thank You

Which tutorial? It sounds like an old, out of date tutorial. Use these color shaders instead.

These tutorials use the currently supported Arnold shaders. Arvid Schneiders tutorials are also recommended.

It looks as if the color correct is more similar to the ALremapcolor but is limit in the setting options. Also the AiStandard has one specular setting whereas the aLstandard has two speculars. This is my first time in Arnold and it's hard to find substitutes for the ALshader node he is using. I understand that having a more current tutorial would be more ideal and on retrospect if i knew that the tutorial used ALshader that are no longer supported I would have followed a different tutorial. I am where I am and if I can get by with substituting a few nodes I can finish the tutorial. I will look over the tutorials you suggested for a solution. Any other suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Thank You

"Also the AiStandard has one specular setting whereas the aLstandard has two speculars. "

Arnold has Specular and Coat.

Sweet, I will check the coat out. I'm sure it will be fairly simple to substitute the nodes, I panic a bit when I see something I don't have.

Thanks for your help i really do appreciate it

Hi, I got some things figured out and I should be good with the shaders now.

Thanks again for your help.

Thank you so much for providing these tutorials. I am stuck again on the SSS part of this tutorial and found it by following the links you provided. I do have a question though, I saw in the second tutorial you provided he uses sets to create a Arnold override at 39 min in and I'm having hard time following how he does it. Do you know how to do it? Cause it seems that the subdivision iterations aren't affecting my mesh either. If you're busy I understand and i will keep looking into how he does it, but i thought to ask anyways.

Thanks again, you've been a great help!

Sets might be a bit much for this. You can check to see if subdiv is working by using wireframe mode in the RenderView window.

I'm sorry, I don't mean to drive you nuts, but how do you create a SSS Scatter Map? Is it just an AO map or is it something different?

It defines where you want the SSS to be more/less prominent. You could download the free head model/textures here to see an example.

I would focus on getting the skin shading right before creating extra textures like this. You may not need it for what you are doing.
