Arnold standin alembic curve sample rate?

Is it possible to set the sample rate of curves when loading curves with a standin?

Or make it render smooth...

The same curve renders differently. With the imported curve it is possible to adjust the sample rate. The Standin curve renders with unwanted 'steps'

You have to export the ASS file with the desired sample rate. You can't change it later, because the sampleRate controls how MtoA samples the curve in Maya (and the result is exported to Arnold).

I am loading an Alembic file here not an ASS file. Why is there a difference between the maya import and the delayed loaded alembic? There must be a possibility to set the sample rate also in the stand-in right?!

Trying to avoid to import all the curves in maya. This is just a single curve example. The 'real' scene contains 200K+ curves.

The standin (ass or alembic) is not using the Maya API to get the curve data. That's where the sampleRate is used: in calls to the Maya API to get the curve data

Hi @Stephen.Blair

Is it not possible to implement something like sample rate on the Stand In, we use it for almost everything we do now and our interchange medium is Alembic files just like Jims usage scenario.

If you have to re-sample all your curves before they come out of Houdini the ABC files tend to get really large if you have many small fibers.

So a method of bypassing the build in maya curve sample rate when using the stand in would be much much appreciated.
