Error with Arnold RenderView in Maya

We currently have a student here that is trying to work with Arnold (MtoA 3.3.0.2) in Maya 2019 (No service pack installed) and when she opens RenderView, she gets the following error:

# Error: [mtoa.translator] synColorTranslator: Arnold node type color_manager_syncolor does not exist.

MtoA 3.3.0.2 is the the version distributed with Maya 2019 but we had to upgrade to this version for support of another plugin, Yeti 3.5.0. Yeti is used in the current project but it doesn't seem like an error with Yeti, but we'll try and run more tests.

I joined the full console outputs of both Maya and Arnold from the student. We did search the error on the web and we found a place where they asked to check and make sure ARNOLD_PLUGIN_PATH variable was correctly populated. The result is the following:

getenv ARNOLD_PLUGIN_PATH;
// Result: C:/solidangle/mtoadeploy/2019/shaders;C:/solidangle/mtoadeploy/2019/procedurals //

The paths are correct and point to the correct folders.

Any idea? Thanks

This kind of stuff makes me think there's a problem with your environment and there's a version mix up:

// Warning: [metadata] (C:/solidangle/mtoadeploy/2019/plug-ins/mtoa.mtd:3523) Node entry does not exist //
// Warning: [metadata] (C:/solidangle/mtoadeploy/2019/plug-ins/mtoa.mtd:3530) Found attribute outside a node //
// Warning: [metadata] (C:/solidangle/mtoadeploy/2019/plug-ins/mtoa.mtd:3533) Found attribute outside a node //
// Warning: [metadata] (C:/solidangle/mtoadeploy/2019/plug-ins/mtoa.mtd:3536) Found attribute outside a node //
// Warning: [metadata] (C:/solidangle/mtoadeploy/2019/plug-ins/mtoa.mtd:3539) Found attribute outside a node //
onSetCurrentLayout "Maya Classic";

I would set MTOA_STARTUP_LOG_VERBOSITY to see what's being loaded from where when you start Maya:

set MTOA_STARTUP_LOG_VERBOSITY=3

Sorry for the delay, we where trying to have news from the student.

Here is the log with the variable changed.

I also joined the project file used to recreate the problem (Which uses Yeti plugin too).

When we open that file, then open Arnold RenderView and hit play, we get the error instantly.

Thanks

The startup log would have been in the Maya Output Window.

Those "Found attribute outside a node" mean an older version of Arnold is being loaded. The startup log would show what Arnold is loaded.

Usually this is caused by something in the environment eg PATH has something in it that points to an older MtoA bin folder.

I'll try the project, but I am 99% sure I won't get an error, because I have the right Arnold version loaded.
