MAXtoA automatically set AOV output to same folder as render output?

I'd like to have MAXtoA set AOV output to same folder as render output by default. Also the ability to have the output filename or the scene name included with _"AOV"

Is this something that I script or edit a preference file to do?

That is a good point. It is using your Renderoutput folder instead.
