You can use render layers to isolate your objects and render them separate with different lighting.

any news here..? we need lightlinking to work with xgen.

It looks like it works. Arnold didn't say that they fixed it in their release notes that it works but I got it to work with Arnold lights and a spot light. Directional light doesn't work. Some of the selection is weird also. For the spot light you need to select the shader group and for Arnold light you need to select the object. @Christoph Schaedl I would double check with @Stephen Blair

this issue was not present in 3.0.0 version. i think it appeared after 3.1 update. we really need the light linking as well. any news on the subject?
