Quote from Stephen Blair: "Since you have 17.5.299, that suggests the problem is the environment variables."
No mention of what "problem with the environment variables". Now, Mr genius, does version 18.0.391 and HtoA 5.1.1 still have the same issue? That you never mentioned anything about.
Issue:
Have a file with ANYTHING related to HtoA > If you open it without having Houdini open(double click), it'll open with EVERYTHING HtoA missing.
However, if you open Houdini and THEN open the file, it works fine.
Message for @Stephen Blair, this is a new PC with Houdini Indie and Arnold Trial installed, that's it, installed one after the other, no path B.S issue, nothing. You claimed this was fixed in 17.5.BLAH version. Yet here it is in 18. I'll see you again for another complaint in Houdini 19.5. Because this happened in 16, 16.5, 17, 17.5, 18. I'm sure you can count what's coming next. See you in Houdini 22.5 also, I know you won't test for this, therefore its not getting fixed.
Yes, I and some customers confirmed it was fixed in Houdini 17.5, because it worked fineafter upgrading
Tested with Houdini 18.0.348. The problem is that double-clicking a hip file runs hview, which runs houdinfx (in my case), and both source the houdini.env, and you get a double expansion of the & in paths like HOUDINI_PATH and HTOA_PLUGIN_PATH
That's what breaks things.
Change the default action for double-clicking on a .hip file?
Thanks for confirming the issue, we will look at this in the ticket htoa#1452.
Stephen, thank you for your reply. is there a way to avoid running 'hview' when I launch HIP project by double-clicking it? Or workaround cannot be so simple?
