Hi,
I can't seem to be able to render any instances or hair within Houdini Solaris. Is this something that will be supported at some point soon?
Thanks!
Miguel
Hi Miguel,
we have a ticket for supporting curves in the render delegate : https://github.com/Autodesk/arnold-usd/issues/19 .
Instances of meshes and volumes should be working in Solaris. Could you please share an example scene?
Cheers,
Pal.
Hi @Pal Mezei
Thanks for your reply! Great to know there is a ticket. Any idea of when will you tackle it?
Find attached a simple scene with my instancing issue and a couple of images of what I get with Arnold and with a different renderer.
This is using HtoA 5.2.1 and Arnold 6.0.3.0
Are you using Linux? I just fixed a build issue that affected the instancer and other parts of the render delegate on Linux.
I switched the curves ticket to "In Progress" on GitHub. I'll keep you updated.
Hi Miguel,
I believe your instancing issue has been fixed with the latest HtoA / Arnold 6.0.3.1 release. The work on curve rendering is progressing, although quite slowly.
Attached a screenshot of the current version of the code, which is not yet merged into master.
Hi Pal,
I can confirm the instances are good now, thanks.
Cool! It's so nice to see the progress with curve support! Thanks so much for the update.
Miguel
Hi,
curve support was released with HtoA 5.4.0. There are a few limitations, but nothing major. Please let us know if you find any bugs!
I just checked the docs of htoa,it still says not support, maybe it's not update yet. and thanks Pal, I'll test the curve.
